Former college swimmer Riley Gaines has called on the likes of Caitlin Clark and Simone Biles to use their status as high-profile female athletes to oppose transgenders getting into women’s sports.

Gaines has been vocal about keeping men out of women’s sports since Lia Thomas joined the swim team at the University of Pennsylvania and is now calling on Clark and Biles to add their voices to her cause.

“People who I think would be critical to this movement are, of course, people like Caitlin Clark, people like Simone Biles,” she told Fox News Digital. “These are women who have been able to shatter glass ceilings and break barriers, who are role models to young girls across the country.”

Gaines said that having the aforementioned athletes speak out against the transgender issue, particularly when it comes to sports, would help massively.

“To have them emphatically say [trans athletes] do not belong in women’s sports would be… the issue would be solved across all levels, like yesterday, if they were willing to do this,” she added.

Gaines has been one of the loudest detractors where it pertains to transgenders being involved in women’s sports.

She’s challenged the NCAA and other institutions over the issue, even joining a lawsuit against college sports’ governing body following San Jose State allowing trans woman Blaire Flemming to compete.

The suit claims the school’s coaching staff and administrators did not tell players that Flemming was not born female.

Fleming’s teammate, Brooke Slusser, also joined the suit, with 10 other current and former Mountain West Conference players and SJSU associate head coach Melissa Batie-Smoose getting involved too.

Gaines should be very encouraged by one of Donald Trump’s latest moves, as the returning President of the United States signed an executive order last month banning transgenders from participating in women’s sports.
