Newly signed Kenneth Walker III is already embracing the culture of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaking to reporters during his introductory press conference on Thursday, the running back shared his excitement about joining one of the NFL’s most successful franchises and explained why the opportunity felt like the perfect fit.
Walker said the Chiefs’ winning culture played a major role in his decision.
“Winning coaching. Watching over the years, they’ve been to plenty of Super Bowls and they know how to win,” Walker said. “So I felt like it’s a great fit for me.”
He also admitted that being pursued early in free agency meant a lot personally.
“It means a lot. You feel appreciated and wanted—that’s what everybody wants,” Walker added. “I’m just happy to get in here, get to know the guys, and get to work.”
A Major Investment From Kansas City
Kansas City showed its commitment by signing Walker to a three-year contract worth up to $45 million, with $28.7 million fully guaranteed at signing.
The deal signals that the Chiefs see Walker as a key piece of their offensive future.
Walker on Eric Bieniemy: “He’s Intense”
Walker also spoke about working with Eric Bieniemy, the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator, whose passionate coaching style is well known across the league.
According to Walker, Bieniemy’s intensity is exactly what he wants from a coach.
“He’s intense, yeah,” Walker said with a smile. “The more he talks about it, the more intense he gets. But it’s been cool. You want someone like that who’s really passionate about the game, so I’m excited to work with him.”
Bieniemy has long been respected for helping build one of the NFL’s most dynamic offenses, making his leadership an important factor in Walker’s transition to Kansas City.
Coming Off a Strong Season
Before arriving in Kansas City, Walker delivered another productive year with the Seattle Seahawks.
During the 2025 season, he rushed for:
-
1,027 rushing yards
-
5 rushing touchdowns
-
31 receptions
-
282 receiving yards
His versatility helped Seattle finish the regular season with the best record in the NFC, proving his value both on the ground and in the passing game.
A New Weapon for the Chiefs’ Offense
Now, Walker joins a Chiefs team that continues to chase championships.
With his explosive running style and dual-threat ability, Kansas City hopes the talented back can add another dangerous dimension to an already powerful offense.
And if Walker’s enthusiasm is any indication, he’s more than ready to get started.
