Ever since my sister was born, she and I have been inseparable. We would play games together, talk about boy problems, ect. However, ever since she got older ( around the age of 17-18), we still talked a lot, but whenever I invited her to do something with me, she would always claim she was busy, even when she said she was doing “nothing” and was “bored” (I swear she likes to play mind games). When she got engaged, I was invited to her wedding.

It was labeled as “child-free.” Here’s the problem: I have a son, he’s still a baby. I asked my husband if he could look after him while I was at my sister’s wedding (since he wasn’t invited).

He told me he couldn’t because he had to work from 12 pm to 7 pm due to being low on staff at the moment, and he had to cover their shifts as well.

I understood. Now, I could have gotten a babysitter, but all my family who I could have asked were going to the wedding, and I was too low on money to pay for one. So I politely told my sister (over text) that I couldn’t make the wedding because I had no one to look after my son. And I don’t get why my husband wasn’t invited. She claims she “Only wants family”?

She then started accusing me of “never wanting to hang out with her” and “hating her guts.” I tried to explain that it wasn’t like that; I just couldn’t attend because I didn’t want to leave my baby alone. But she just kept accusing me of “hating her” and even assumed I “wished she was dead because I wanted her husband,” even though I have a husband whom I love and adore. So I don’t know.
