A former Ohio State Buckeye football national champion is in police custody in Tennessee following serious news out of the Volunteer state.
Former Buckeye Darron Lee has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, according to WTVC News 9 in Tennessee, after his girlfriend’s body was found in a Hamilton County home.

According to the report, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office was called to a home on Snow Cone Way in Ooltewah, where CPR was in progress. When arriving, police found a female victim who was pronounced dead on the scene from her injuries.
Lee, the suspect and boyfriend, was taken into custody following the incident. The former Buckeye was arrested in 2023 on a charge of assault and domestic violence in Ohio.
While at Ohio State, Lee played in 28 games between the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He had 81 tackles, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble in 2014. Lee followed it up with 66 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and an interception in 2015.
Lee became a star linebacker for the Buckeyes because of his athletic ability in the middle of the defense. He was selected by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft at pick No. 20.
Lee’s NFL career lasted just 58 games in five seasons. The former Buckeye started 36 of 40 games he played between 2016 and 2018, then appeared in 16 games for the Kansas City Chiefs. Lee finished his career in 2020 with two games played for the Buffalo Bills.
