The Kansas City Chiefs made it clear they’re ready to rebuild for the future, pulling the trigger on a blockbuster trade that sent cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for a haul of picks, including their 2026 first-rounder.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes remains the centerpiece of the team. After seeing reports regarding McDuffie’s exit, “Damn,” Mahomes posted on X.

After finishing the season 6-11 and failing to make the playoffs for the first time in a decade, however, the Chiefs need to swing big for draft capital and to clear cap space. The Chiefs’ success next season also hinges on how quickly Mahomes can recover from a torn ACL and MCL he suffered in Week 15 last season.

While the three-time Super Bowl MVP focuses on his recovery, Mahomes is also keeping up with his off-the-field endeavors. In addition to being a co-owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, he’s using his partnership with Adidas to propel his alma mater in new ways.

Patrick Mahomes Debuted a New Uniform for Texas Tech’s Baseball team

A few hours after reacting to the Chiefs’ big trade, Mahomes made an announcement of his own. He revealed the new Red Raiders‘ baseball uniform designed by Adidas and Team Mahomes.

The Texas Tech alum, who played both football and baseball in college until his junior year, proudly shared the news on X and his Instagram Stories on March 4.

Mahomes remains closely tied to Texas Tech. In November, the Chiefs star and Adidas announced the second class of Team Mahomes, an NIL cohort of Texas Tech student-athletes, and debuted the new  “Too Cold” uniform.

“Texas Tech will always be home for me, so I’m proud to give back to the school and community who helped shape me on and off the field,” Mahomes shared in a statement. “As the partnership with adidas continues to evolve and expand, we’re redefining not just the future of Red Raider sports, but college athletics more widely.”

Patrick Mahomes Is the First Non-Golfer to Launch His Own Golf Line

Proving Mahomes is one of the most influential figures in sports, Mahomes is the first non-professional golfer to debut their own golf line, Front Office Sports reported on January 22.

Mahomes is an avid golfer and hosts an annual tournament to raise money for his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, each offseason. When the two-time league MVP inked a multi-year contract extension with Adidas in November, the deal included a Mahomes-branded golf line.

“Patrick is the tip of the spear, in terms of all the athletes we can tap into from around the brand that are in other sport categories, but have a passion for, or an interest in, golf,” Adidas golf president Jeff Lienhart told FOS.

“It does a lot for us with the consumers that speak to these other athletes from other sports coming to the game of golf, and how cool the game of golf has become, and how relevant it has become.”
