Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is spending this offseason in unfamiliar territory. Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the NFL playoffs for the first time in Mahomes’ career, and the two-time MVP is also working back from a season-ending knee injury. While Mahomes focuses on rehab, his family has continued to mark major milestones together — including a surprise birthday celebration for his mother, Randi Mahomes, at the Chiefs star’s Kansas City restaurant, 1587 Prime.
Randi posted photos from the event on Instagram, showing Patrick and Brittany Mahomes in attendance as the family celebrated ahead of her 50th birthday.
Randi Mahomes Celebrates Early Birthday at Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Restaurant
Randi, an event planner and mother of three, turns 50 on Sunday. But she celebrated early with a surprise gathering surrounded by family. On Wednesday, she shared photos from the weekend celebration.
“Felt so incredibly loved this weekend with a surprise early birthday celebration surrounded by family!! So grateful for all the love and a huge thank you to @1587prime for making it so special. Truly feeling blessed ❤️,” Randi wrote in her Instagram caption.
Patrick and Brittany were part of the gathering at the steakhouse, which Mahomes opened in September 2025. The restaurant is a joint venture with teammate Travis Kelce — the name 1587 reflects their jersey numbers — along with hospitality group Noble 33.
Patrick is the oldest of Randi’s three children. He has a younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, and a younger sister, Mia Randall.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes Celebrate Daughter Golden’s 1st Birthday
The Mahomes family celebration comes as Patrick and Brittany recently marked another personal milestone: the first birthday of their youngest daughter, Golden.
The couple welcomed Golden last January during Kansas City’s postseason bye week. This week, friends and family gathered to celebrate her birthday. Brittany shared highlights from the party on Instagram, showing the gold, sunshine, and floral-themed setup.
“Celebrated our Golden girl with the best crew,” Brittany captioned her post.
Golden wore a sparkling gold dress and a birthday crown, matching the party theme. Patrick and Brittany’s older children — Sterling, born in February 2021, and Bronze, born in November 2022 — were also part of the celebration.
Randi also posted about the occasion and shared her own message about her granddaughter.
“Happy 1st birthday to the sweetest girl, our Golden!! Grandi loves you,” she wrote alongside a photo holding Golden in front of a themed birthday cake. Randi later posted another message in her Instagram Story, writing, “Happy 1st birthday to our Golden!”
Patrick Mahomes Rehabs ACL Injury as Chiefs Look to 2026
Mahomes is now focused on returning from a major knee injury. He tore the ACL in his left knee late in Kansas City’s Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and later underwent surgery to repair both his ACL and LCL.
Photos from the family birthday weekend offered a glimpse of his recovery, showing Mahomes standing with a full-length brace on his left leg.
Chiefs vice president of sports medicine and performance Rick Burkholder indicated Mahomes could potentially return sooner than the standard ACL recovery timeline.
“Every player is different. Every sport is different. Every position is different,” Burkholder said after Mahomes’ procedure in December. “(Mahomes) is so in tune to what he does, he does it a little quicker. Ballpark on this is nine months, but it could be a month or two more, a month or two less.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also said Mahomes has already attacked the rehab process with intensity.
“He’s been in there grinding…Right now, he’s in that early process where you’ve got to hit it hard,” Reid told reporters.
Reid added that Mahomes stayed focused immediately after the injury, even as he faced a long recovery.
“He’s so positive right now,” Reid said after the surgery. “You wouldn’t expect anything less. ‘Get me up, get me going,’ he’s basically saying, an hour after the game. ‘Brace me up and let me go.’ It’s not one of those injuries, obviously, but that’s his mindset. I think he’ll do great with the rehab. He’s a pretty fast healer that way.”
