Wendy Williams’ court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey reportedly refused to let her leave assisted living facility Coterie in New York City on Wednesday night to have dinner with her niece Alex Finnie and her newly-hired attorney Joe Tacopina.

Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ on Wednesday that the denial might ‘have something to do with Wendy’s strong desire to end the guardianship.’

The 60-year-old presenter ‘will demand a jury trial’ if the Manhattan judge – who declared legally incapacitated last August – doesn’t end her conservatorship.

That same judge appointed the 60-year-old elder law attorney as Wendy’s guardian in 2022 after her ex-manager Bernie Young reportedly raised concerns that she was of ‘unsound mind,’ which led to Wells Fargo freezing her bank accounts.

On March 11, Sabrina’s attorney sent a letter to TMZ claiming Williams can ‘see her family whenever she wants’ and is receiving ‘excellent medical care’ where there is a ‘spa, a workout room, excellent food, a dining room, and outside terraces.’

However, the five-time Daytime Emmy nominee has repeatedly claimed she can only leave the fifth floor memory unit with permission aka an attendant unlocking the elevator in the ‘luxury prison.’

‘The lady is locked in a room. She’s on the fifth floor of a ward where she can’t just leave when she wants. She doesn’t have access to the Internet. She can’t just go and get dinner or lunch,’ Tacopina told Sid & Friends In The Morning last Friday.

‘Everyone else on her floor is in their 80s and 90s and don’t know their own names. And she’s there, and it’s really horrible.’

The 58-year-old lawyer – who won A$AP Rocky’s criminal assault case – explained that frontotemporal dementia is a degenerative condition, and Wendy has substantially improved since she quit drinking alcohol last year.

‘The problem is the guardianship process in New York state is horrifically complicated,’ Joe noted.

‘I’m going to do everything to ensure that she gets out of that draconian situation she’s in. I mean, Sid, you know Wendy. People are coming out in droves in this industry saying that they love her so much and they cannot believe the situation that she’s in.’
